Steve Earle, the founder of the famed Monterey Historics, is done as the organizer of the event after 36 races. Earle and track officials were unable to iron out a new deal, making this year's races--run last weekend--his final lap. The front and rear tracks of the 2011 WRX are 1.5 inches wider, compared with the 2010 model. Wheel diameter remains at 17 inches, but the wheels get an inch wider at 8 inches.
As just about everyone else did, we ran the now-infamous Shelby 1000 wheel-lift photo on Tuesday. Shelby American's public-relations operatives have confirmed that the photo was digitally altered, and it has been removed from our site.
